There's an option in the design of the field to refresh choices on document refresh. Unless you check this option, Notes will not recalculate the list of choices until you close and reopen the document. If you do check it, you still have to refresh the document to get the new choices.

You could maybe use onfocus event of form to cause it to refresh?
